SMALL 19TH C. "DUYU" SPICE BOWL

 

Origin:  Philippines, N. Luzon, likely Ifuogao people  (Provenance:  Acquired from Scott McCue, Orinda CA)

Period/Date: 19th century

Materials:  Hardwood (narra?)

Description:  This lovely small "duyu" bowl shows considerable age and has acquired a deep rich dark patina.  It may have been used for salt or spices since it seems too small for an individual portion or personal eating bowl.  In good condition with some old insect holes.

Dimensions:   Width 4"  (10 cm), Height 1"  (2.5 cm)
