RARE & GORGEOUS PAIR OF NAGA BEADED HIP ORNAMENTS

Item Code: AI494N

Origin:  Northeast India/ Burma, Naga people, Konyak tribe  (Provenance: Ex. Bruce Frank, NY, previously in an old UK Collection)

Description:  Here's a lavish and stunning pair of 19th century trade bead and dyed goat hair hip ornaments in superb condition.  They are presented on a custom Amyas Naegele  art display base and look even older and better than the photos communicate.  They feature fourteen pendant plumes which are each bound with fine red and yellow fiber (maybe Orchid fiber?).  The muli-color beads are very early and include Italian "white hearts".  These are quality "old world" Naga craftsmanship at its best and are arguably the most beautiful objects of personal adornment ever produced by this culture.   Note: The images of them are over exposed making them appear newer than they are.

Related examples can be seen on page 307 of "The Nagas" by Julian Jacobs, copyright 1990.

Dimensions:  Each panel is 44 cm by 8 cm wide.

Price:   $2500   (Approx. 2016 Euros)   FREE SHIPPING With (Buy Now) Feature!
