ANTIQUE MONGOLIAN DEMON PUPPET

Origin:  Northern China or Mongolia    (Provenance:  Acquired from an old collection of Asian Art in West Palm Beach Florida)

Period/Date:  Likely circa 1930's, possibly older

Materials:  wood, lacquer paint, silk, thread, mirror, animal fur and hair

Description:  This expressive demon puppet is even older in person than the photos suggest.  It is a rod style puppet and is presented on a metal display stand.  It retains its original embroidered robe with some minor loss here and there.  In good condition with some areas of chipped paint mostly on the chin.
