BAULE HEDDLE PULLEY

 

Origin: W. Africa, Ivory Coast, Baule People   (Provenance: From a private collection in Malibu CA)

Period/Date: Likely early 20th century

Materials:  wood, iron staples, nails

Description:  This classic weaving heddle pulley features two Bush Cows.  It shows significant wear and use and its right side has been mended with old iron staples and nails (a common practice).  In good condition otherwise with some old loss to the horns.
