Origin:   Australia, N. Queensland, Mitchell River, Cape York Peninsula  (Provenance: Acquired from an old New York State collection of weapons which was assembled before 1930)

Period/Date:  At least early 20th century

Materials: wood, shaped bivalve shells, fiber, resin

Dimensions:  Height 31.75" (81 cm),  Width 4 3/8"  (11 cm) 

Description:  A classic Cape York spearthrower presented on a custom metal stand.  In good condition retaining its notched spur and both shells.
