CLASSIC ANTIQUE BULLROARER

Origin:   Australia, Central Desert, Likely Aluridja tribe   

Period/Date:  Early 20th century

Materials: wood, red ocher

Dimensions:  Height 16.5" (42 cm),  Width 4"  (10 cm) 

Description:  This classic bullroarer features incised totemic designs on both sides.  A cord would have been attached through the top hole for whirling around during special ceremonies.  It shows obvious wear and use and is presented on a custom metal stand.  In good condition with a small chip on the upper right side.
